Simcere Pharmaceutical Group Limited (“Simcere Pharma”) has released its sixth Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, detailing 2025 performance highlights across innovation investment, climate action and human-capital management.
R&D AND PRODUCT PIPELINE • R&D spending reached RMB 2.08 billion, equal to 26.8% of annual revenue. • Ten innovative drugs are already commercialised and more than 60 candidates are in the pipeline; two New Drug Applications were accepted by the National Medical Products Administration during the year. • Over 45 products are now listed on China’s National Reimbursement Drug List, while 14 products feature in more than 100 official treatment guidelines or pathways.
GOVERNANCE AND COMPLIANCE • A three-tier ESG structure—Board of Directors, Strategy Committee and ESG Working Group—oversees policy and target delivery. • Full-coverage business-ethics audits and training achieved 100% staff participation, with zero corruption, money-laundering or insider-trading cases reported. • Information-security controls produced zero data breaches.
ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE • Greenhouse-gas emissions intensity fell 22.22% year-on-year; water-use intensity declined 24.00%. • Renewable-energy consumption rose 23.02%, aided by photovoltaic expansion and on-site wind generation; 210 EV charging points and 12 solar streetlamps are now installed across sites. • All plants hold ISO 14001 certification, and Hainan and Dongyuan facilities earned “Zero Waste Factory” status.
WORKFORCE METRICS • Simcere Pharma employed 7,038 people; women represented 52.17% of total staff and 50.24% of managers. • Average training time reached 39.34 hours per employee, while lost-time injury frequency was zero fatalities and 201 lost workdays.
SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION • Public-welfare spending exceeded RMB 6 million, including RMB 175,200 in orphan sponsorships and RMB 400,000 worth of drug donations to rural healthcare facilities. • The group received the “Most Caring Charitable Donor” accolade at the 7th Jiangsu Charity Awards.
OUTLOOK Simcere Pharma plans to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions per RMB 10,000 revenue by at least 10% and solid-waste intensity by 15% by 2030, while sustaining high R&D investment and expanding access to innovative therapies through further NRDL inclusion and international market entry.
