BeiGene (06160) has announced a voluntary agreement with the U.S. government, designed to broaden patient access to its innovative cancer treatments under the Medicaid program.

The deal is part of a larger initiative involving nine pharmaceutical companies in total. Alongside BeiGene, the other participants include Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva, and UCB.

Under the terms of this arrangement, BeiGene will offer its immunotherapy drug, tislelizumab (sold as TEVIMBRA in the U.S.), to eligible patients at an agreed-upon price through Medicaid. This program serves a wide range of individuals who meet specific criteria, such as children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, many of whom may face financial barriers to healthcare.

It is estimated that this agreement will benefit a patient population representing roughly 8% of the total number of people for whom tislelizumab is currently approved in the United States.

The company stated that this voluntary pact is a market-specific measure tailored to the local healthcare reimbursement framework and policy environment. The goal is to boost the affordability and reach of its medicine, ensuring that more qualified patients can receive the therapy.

As a cornerstone of BeiGene's solid tumor portfolio, tislelizumab has now received approval in more than 50 markets worldwide and has been used to treat over two million patients to date. In China, 13 of its indications have been included in the National Reimbursement Drug List.

As research into additional combination therapies continues, the clinical potential of this drug is expanding. BeiGene remains committed to a patient-centered approach, collaborating with local stakeholders across different regions to adapt its strategies to each market's specific healthcare systems, policies, and patient needs, thereby advancing access to innovative medicines in a sustainable manner.
