Smart home shoppers in Hebei province now have more reasons to upgrade, as the region has officially expanded its trade-in program to include 10 new categories of intelligent devices.
Purchases of qualifying smart home products will receive a direct subsidy of 15% off the price, which is deducted immediately at the point of payment. There is no waiting for reimbursement or complicated paperwork; in simple terms, it is as if the government is helping negotiate a discount for you, giving shoppers an effective 15% reduction instantly. The program has been in effect since September.
The 10 product categories now covered by the subsidy are smart headphones, smart dishwashers, smart toilets, embodied intelligent robots, smart vacuum cleaners, smart range hoods, smart massage chairs, smart gas stoves, smart security devices, and smart water dispensers.
In terms of subsidy amounts, smart headphones are capped at a maximum discount of 500 yuan per item. All other qualifying categories offer a subsidy ceiling of up to 1,500 yuan per item. Significantly, consumers can purchase one unit from each of the ten categories, meaning a household renovating its kitchen and bathroom could combine subsidies for a toilet, dishwasher, range hood, and other appliances, potentially saving thousands of yuan in total.
Shoppers should be mindful of three key conditions when participating. First, the subsidy is subject to a monthly quota cap, so funds may run out; do not delay if you plan to buy. Second, all products must carry a national standard barcode and serial number, and any appliance with an energy efficiency label must meet the top-tier Level 1 standard. Third, purchases must be made at registered participating retail stores, where the discount is applied instantly upon payment, so be sure to check for official authorized channels.
