Market Open: Domestic Futures Contracts Mostly Higher, SC Crude Oil Climbs More Than 4%

At the opening of trading on August 31, 2026, domestic futures main contracts showed a broad upward trend, with most categories gaining ground. SC crude oil surged over 4%, leading the advance, followed by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), palladium, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and coking coal, all up more than 3%.

In addition, lithium carbonate, glass, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU), alumina, and soda ash all rose by more than 2%, sustaining positive momentum across the commodity complex.

On the downside, silver fell more than 3%, gold declined over 2%, and Europe container shipping indices dropped nearly 2%. Meanwhile, tin, nickel, and polysilicon each slipped more than 1%, reflecting weakness in select precious and industrial metals.
