CPIC H1 2026: Net Profit Up 10.4% to RMB30.78 Billion, First Interim Dividend Declared

China Pacific Insurance Group (CPIC) reported unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2026, posting RMB212.14 billion in operating income, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%.

Group net profit attributable to shareholders rose 10.4% to RMB30.78 billion, while operating profit after tax (OPAT) reached RMB21.15 billion, up 6.2%. Group net assets advanced 5.6% to RMB319.20 billion.

Life and health insurance remained the principal earnings driver. New business value climbed 12.7% to RMB10.76 billion, and the NBV margin improved 2.5 percentage points to 17.5%. Regular first-year premiums rose 28.6% to RMB30.67 billion, supported by double-digit productivity gains in the agency channel and a 32.6% increase in regular premiums from bancassurance.

Property and casualty operations generated RMB114.36 billion in direct written premiums, up 1.4%, and achieved a 95.0% combined ratio, a 1.3-point improvement year on year. Auto insurance produced a 94.6% combined ratio, while non-auto lines improved to 95.3%.

Total assets under management surpassed RMB4.08 trillion, up 4.8% from end-2025. The investment portfolio’s comprehensive yield declined 0.6 percentage points to 1.8% amid lower risk-free rates and volatile equity markets; equity assets represented 17.1% of the portfolio, with core equities at 13.9%.

The Group’s comprehensive solvency margin ratio stood at 255%, comfortably above regulatory minimums. CPIC also announced its inaugural interim dividend of RMB0.42 per share, totaling RMB4.04 billion and payable on or about 23 October 2026.

Management highlighted continued focus on asset-liability matching, expansion in technology and green insurance, and accelerated implementation of pension, international and “AI+” strategies as priorities for the remainder of 2026.
