In January of this year, the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission issued the "Negative List for Service Platform Algorithms (Trial)." Subsequently, the Cyberspace Administration of China, in collaboration with relevant departments, organized and implemented the initiative. Cyberspace administrations in multiple regions have taken action, urging key platforms in sectors such as food delivery, ride-hailing, freight transport, online shopping, online travel, and ticketing to conduct in-depth self-inspections and self-corrections in accordance with the negative list. Platforms including Meituan, Taobao Quick Purchase, JD.com, and Didi have implemented 63 optimization and improvement measures, achieving initial progress in enhancing algorithm transparency, fairness, and reasonableness. A relevant official from the Cyberspace Administration of China stated that while initial success has been achieved in algorithm governance for service platforms, some platforms still face issues such as "selective rectification" and "inaction unless others act." There remains a significant gap compared to the expectations of the broad new employment groups and the general public. The next step involves the Cyberspace Administration of China, together with relevant departments, continuing to rigorously implement the negative list, further solidifying platform responsibility, organizing specialized inspections as appropriate, and evaluating effectiveness while urging progress. Platforms found to have serious issues will be dealt with and penalized according to laws and regulations.
