Bank of Hangzhou CFO Sees Easing Margin Squeeze as Loan Yields Restabilize

During the 2026 interim results briefing held on September 3, Bank of Hangzhou's deputy president, Zhang Jianfu, reported that the bank's net interest margin (NIM) has achieved stabilization and a rebound in the first half of the year.

Zhang acknowledged that a visible gap remains between the yields on newly issued loans and those on the existing loan book. However, he noted that as outstanding loans gradually undergo repricing and new lending continues to expand, the downward pressure on the NIM from falling loan rates is now being progressively alleviated.

Emphasizing proactive measures, Zhang stated that the bank will intensify its balance-sheet restructuring efforts, strengthen liability quality management, and refine internal pricing mechanisms. These coordinated actions are designed to mitigate the ongoing margin squeeze and accelerate the return of the NIM to a stable, upward trajectory.
