An announcement has been made by SIMCERE PHARMA (02096) regarding a significant development for its flagship product.

The company's self-developed Class 1 innovative drug, Xianbixin® (edaravone dexborneol concentrated solution for injection), has been officially included in the National Essential Medicines List (2026 edition) as of July 9, 2026. The drug is indicated for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

In accordance with regulations governing essential medicines, all public medical institutions across the country are required to stock and prioritize the use of drugs listed in this directory.

This inclusion is expected to enable Xianbixin® to expand beyond its current primary focus on top-tier hospitals. It will accelerate the drug's penetration into county-level and primary healthcare markets, broadening its prescription scenarios at the point of care.

Combined with its existing coverage under national medical insurance schemes, this move is anticipated to significantly enhance the drug's accessibility. It will further solidify the company's competitive advantage in the field of acute stroke treatment.
