A leveraged ETF tracking Tesla has jumped more than 9%, with the Southern CSOP Leveraged ETF for Tesla (07766) climbing 9.52% to HKD 85.40 at the time of writing, on trading volume of HKD 1.76 million.

The rally comes as Tesla Motors (TSLA.US) introduced a more affordable, stripped-down rear-wheel-drive version of its Model 3 in Hong Kong and Macau, priced at HKD 205,000 (approximately USD 26,000) and MOP 252,000 (approximately USD 31,000) respectively. The new entry-level variant in Hong Kong is priced 8.5% lower than the previous base model.

According to reports, the simplified version reduces or downgrades certain interior and exterior features, including textile upholstery, audio system, and alloy wheels. This marks a continuation of Tesla's strategy to stimulate regional demand through lower-cost configurations.

Notably, this is not the first time the automaker has deployed a "trim-down and price-cut" approach to boost sales in specific markets. In October 2025, Tesla Motors launched standard versions of the Model 3 and Model Y in the United States, with starting prices reduced by USD 5,000 to USD 5,500 compared with the previous entry-level trims. More recently, in January 2026, the "budget version" Model 3 in South Korea was priced at approximately RMB 174,000 after subsidies.
