Cerebras Systems (CBRS.US) has unveiled plans for a new artificial intelligence data center in Mikkeli, Finland, developed in partnership with Compute Nordic Finland. The facility is set to expand in phases, ultimately reaching 165 megawatts of contracted IT capacity designed to support high-density AI computing workloads.

Construction is already underway on the initial 50-megawatt phase, with the company confirming the agreement was formalized through a series of service orders, each carrying a seven-year contract term. According to a company statement, the arrangement secures long-term, purpose-built infrastructure for Cerebras to accommodate the accelerating global demand for its AI computing platform.

Beyond its operational benefits, the project is expected to serve as a lasting industrial anchor for the Mikkeli region, generating substantial revenue and sustaining local employment opportunities over the long run. Pyry Virrantaus, CEO of Compute Nordic Finland, emphasized that the collaboration is not a speculative wager on future demand but rather a contractually secured, staged development that precisely mirrors the current scale and trajectory of AI compute requirements.
