Due to ongoing rainfall, temporary speed limits have been implemented across several expressways in Jiangsu, according to the latest updates from the regional highway monitoring service. The restrictions, which vary by section, are aimed at ensuring driver safety during the wet conditions.
At 17:00 on August 30, 2026, on the G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway Wuxi section, the speed limit has been reduced to 80 km/h between Wuxi North and Yuqi due to rain.
At 17:20 on August 30, 2026, on the S58 Shanghai-Changshu Expressway Wuxi section, the speed limit has been reduced to 80 km/h in both directions between Junzhang and Mashan. A further update at 17:34 on the G15 Shenyang-Haikou Expressway Yancheng section indicates that, from Sheyang West to the Yancheng Development Zone, three-axle vehicles, medium and heavy trucks, and dangerous goods transport vehicles are banned from entering the expressway, with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h.
Additional speed restrictions to 80 km/h due to rainfall were reported at 16:54 on the S28 Qiyang Expressway Nantong section between Matang and Rudong East, and at 16:57 on the same expressway between Haian South and Qutang. At 17:28, the S21 Yanshe Expressway Yancheng section also imposed a ban on three-axle vehicles, medium and heavy trucks, and dangerous goods vehicles between Huangshagang mainline and Hede, with speeds limited to 60 km/h.
Other affected sections include the G2 Beijing-Shanghai Expressway Wuxi section, which has a 80 km/h limit between Wuxi and Shuofang Hub as of 17:00. On the G40 Shanghai-Xi'an Expressway Nantong section, restrictions to 80 km/h are in place between Jiuhua and Jiang'an from 16:53, and between Nantong North Hub and Pingchao North Hub from 16:44. The G2 Beijing-Shanghai Expressway Suqian section has an 80 km/h limit between Tongyang and Huji, effective from 16:42.
Finally, on the G4221 Shanghai-Wuhan Expressway Suzhou section, the speed is reduced to 80 km/h between Dongbang Hub and Changshu, and between Changshu and Yangshe Hub, from 16:17. The S80 Taicang Port North Expressway Suzhou section also has a two-way limit of 80 km/h between Fuqiao North and Shaxi Hub, effective from 16:16.
