Tencent's WorkBuddy Unveils 'Buddy Apps' to Expand AI Ecosystem

On September 2, during the Tencent WorkBuddy ecosystem launch event, the company announced the official go-live of its open platform, onboarding over one hundred ecosystem partners at the outset. This initiative opens up underlying Agent capabilities to smart hardware developers, industry application creators, and other third-party innovators.

For industry-specific applications, WorkBuddy has introduced the "Buddy App" framework. This offering allows partner companies to construct branded AI workstations tailored to particular sectors and use cases, built on the robust foundation of WorkBuddy's infrastructure. By integrating their industry know-how, operational context, toolkits, and brand identity into WorkBuddy's open architecture, these partners can deliver fully-formed AI Agent office products without having to develop their own AI applications from scratch.

From the end-user perspective, there is no need to understand the underlying systems or runtime environments, nor is it necessary to juggle multiple applications or interfaces. Users can simply select the Buddy App entry point within WorkBuddy to access an AI assistant that comes pre-equipped with vertical-specific context, tool capabilities, and a branded interface—ready for immediate use out of the box.

The initial wave of "Buddy Apps" spans more than 20 sectors, including finance, SaaS, legal, healthcare, education, philanthropy, and design. Tencent has already partnered with over 30 organizations—such as Tongdaxin, GF Securities, Tencent SSV, Tencent Health, PKU Law, Weimob, Beisen, FanRuan, and Meitu Studio—to co-develop these specialized applications.
