24H|Unity Shares Rise on Exit From Non-Strategic Ads Business, Expected 1Q Revenue

Dow Jones
Mar 27

Shares of Unity Software Inc. rose after the company said it would exit the non-strategic advertising business and divest from its game publishing business, as it projected first-quarter revenue ahead of its previous guidance.

Shares were up 12% to $19.13 in overnight trading, after closing down 3.8% at $17.13. At close, the stock had fallen 60% over the past six months.

The gaming-software company on Thursday said it is sunsetting its ironSource Ads Network, effective April 30. Unity said it plans to divest its Supersonic game publishing business with the help of a financial adviser.

The changes are expected to accelerate revenue growth and increase adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, amortization, and deprecation, as well as boosted adjusted Ebitda margins.

Unity also said it expects to report total first-quarter revenue of $505 million to $508 million, up around 17% year-over-year.

The company had previously guided for revenue between $480 million and $490 million, and analysts surveyed by FactSet are expecting $488.9 million in revenue.

Unity expects Grow revenue to increase 24% to $352 million and Create revenue to increase 3% to $155 million. Strategic revenue, which excludes contributions from Supersonic and the ironSource Ads Network, is expected to be $431 million in the first quarter.

Unity expects first-quarter adjusted Ebitda in a range of $130 million to $135 million, with a 26% adjusted Ebitda margin. It had previously guided for adjusted Ebitda between $105 million and $110 million.
