Xanadu (XNDU) said Tuesday it is entering the next stage of its collaboration with Mitsubishi Chemical to apply quantum computing algorithms to semiconductor manufacturing.

The project focuses on creating software to simulate extreme ultraviolet lithography and identify materials that prevent radiation-induced blurring during chip production, the company said.

The partnership is backed by government innovation programs in Canada and Japan, Xanadu said.

Shares of the company were up 2.2% in Tuesday premarket activity.
