SK Hynix (SKHY) is not currently considering Intel's (INTC) Foundry for HBM4E production, refuting a report on Monday from the Herald Economy that the chipmaker was considering the foundry for HBM4E base-die production alongside Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM).

"While we cannot confirm details of our technology roadmap, we are not currently considering Intel Foundry for HBM4E production," SK Hynix told MT Newswires in an emailed statement on Monday.

SK hynix began outsourcing base-die production to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing for HBM4 as logic and performance requirements increased and is now considering Intel to further diversify its supply chain, the report said, citing industry sources.

The potential Intel partnership could enhance SK hynix's cost and supply flexibility while strengthening its negotiating position, with future collaboration potentially extending to advanced packaging, it added.

Intel did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
