Singapore Shares Surge Nearly 1% Despite Rising Oil Prices; Bumitama Agri up over 5%; UOB up Nearly 2%; DBS, OCBC Bank, Keppel up over 1%

Singapore shares closed in the green on Monday, despite rising oil prices following the return of hostilities between the US and Iran.

The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,685.92 and 5,755.36 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,755.36, up 55.43 points or nearly 1% compared to Friday's close.

Bumitama Agri up over 5%; UOB up nearly 2%; DBS, OCBC Bank, Keppel up over 1%.

On the corporate front, shares of Fu Yu (SGX:F13) plunged nearly 9% at the close as it applied to the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading for the transfer of the listing of its shares on the Mainboard.

ComfortDelGro's (SGX:C52) joint venture with RATP Dev, KBH Metro Partner, secured a 17 billion Danish kroner contract to operate and maintain the Copenhagen Metro in Denmark.

Meanwhile, Oxley's (SGX:5UX) attributable loss to owners during the fiscal second half ended June 30 widened to SG$51.7 million from SG$8.3 million a year earlier.
