Ascletis Pharma Starts Phase III Trial of Weight-Loss Drug; Shares Plummet 5%

Ascletis Pharma (HKG:1672) said the first participant has been dosed in a global Phase III clinical program for ASC30, an oral drug being developed for long-term weight management and diabetes.
The program comprises two late-stage trials involving about 4,600 participants across the U.S., Europe and Canada to assess the drug's effectiveness, safety and tolerability, according to a Sunday Hong Kong bourse filing.
Shares of the company plunged over 5% in Monday's trade.
