1002 ET - Nvidia's near-$13 billion acquisition of Hugging Face began with a pitch to the chip maker's CEO, Jensen Huang, Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue says in a joint CNBC interview with Huang. Delangue said his team began to understand the growing importance of open-source AI over the summer. "So, we went to see Jensen, and we told him, we want to make open source AI big. And he told us, 'Let's do it,'" Delangue says. "And a few weeks later, here we are." Nvidia had recently led an open letter in support of open-source, and Huang says he was all ears. "Their vision was spot on," he says. Nvidia is up 1.5%.
