Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials fell as traders recalibrated rate expectations due to the spike in oil prices.

The U.S. dollar rose against rivals.

Rate-sensitive gold futures fell $83.10 per troy ounce, or 1.9% to $4348 a troy ounce, trimming 2026 gains to a mere 0.5%.
