Golden Pet Brands is working with investment banks including Morgan Stanley (MS) and Barclays (BCS) on a potential initial public offering in New York that could take place as soon as this year, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The proposed IPO could value the pet food company at more than $1 billion, according to the report.

California-based Golden Pet Brands owns the Dr. Marty Pets, Badlands Ranch and Ultimate Pet Nutrition brands and operates two manufacturing facilities in the US producing food, treats and supplements for dogs and cats.

Golden Pet Brands, Morgan Stanley and Barclays did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
